The first issue of Friendly Fire Funnies was launched on Free Comic Book Day in 2012. It met with heated controversy. Many stores refused to stock it due to its explicit content. During the same year, at Sydney's Supanova Convention, it was reported that one concerned citizen threatened to report "this pervert" to the police.
